BTS of Creating Our Motusbank Recruiting Video
This past month, Soar Media Group had the opportunity to create a recruitment video for Motusbank, a new digital bank launching across Canada.
On February 1st at 8:30 a.m. our team arrived at Meridian’s HQ to meet the Motusbank team. Upon arrival, we discussed the shoot schedule as well as our intent for the flow of the video. We also set aside some time in the morning to discuss our intentions of creating a comfortable and fun shoot with the whole team.
At 9:00 a.m. we were ready to begin the first interview of the day with Linda! At this point, our videographers split up the shot list and divided their work for the day. Kyle was responsible for filming interviews, while Garri was in charge of shooting b-roll. This enabled us to gather as much footage as possible, without disrupting the employee’s workday.
From 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., we filmed two interviews and gathered b-roll for each. After these two interviews were shot, we had a team re-group. At this time, we discussed possible b-roll shots to collect based on sound bites from the interviews. We wanted to make sure our visuals represented the discussions being had throughout the interviews.
The third and fourth interviews ran until about 12:00 p.m., where then we took a break for lunch. At this time, we took the opportunity to go over our footage and update our list of what was completed and what we still needed to do.
After lunch from about 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. we finished up the fifth and sixth interviews. Once the interviews were finished, it was time to prepare for the filming of our final scene. We gathered all of our interviewees to the conference room to film a meeting that could be used in the video as b-roll over top of interview clips.
At around 4:45 p.m. we finished filming and wrapped up the shoot. We regrouped with the crew and discussed the shots we liked, the overall direction and the next steps in post-production. We lastly spoke with the Motusbank team, thanking them for their enthusiasm and involvement in the production.
We also discussed their overall thoughts of the shoot and what they enjoyed most about being part of the production, most answers being about the Stress Release Rollerball from Saje that our team lead, Maria-Teresa, brought for the interviewees!
After an incredible shoot day with our cast and crew, our talented videographer Kyle pieced the story together to create the final, edited recruitment video.
