The best travel YouTube channels

From vlogs to travel guides to cinematic productions, YouTube is the platform to inspire travellers around the globe.

According to Think With Google, travellers are spending more time watching YouTube videos than ever before, with views of travel-related content up 118% year over year.  The growing demand for travel videos on YouTube is real, so before you plan next year’s content, look to these travel YouTube channels for inspiration.

Booking.com

Booking.com has a series on their YouTube Channel called “Explore [destination] like a Local,” where they feature places such as London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Madrid, and more. By sharing local restaurants, attractions and parks, viewers experience a taste of each destination. They also have a more inspiring series where they feature vlog style videos of individuals, families and groups through their experience with bookings.com.

Destination British Columbia

Destination British Columbia has mastered their visual aesthetic across all platforms. The naturally beautiful landscape is jaw-dropping; there is a reason the channel has over 14K subscribers. When you first open their page the “Highlights of British Columbia, Canada” video starts rolling, sharing drone footage of the mountains, cities, forests and wine region. Featured series include “Explore BC With the Locals”,  “British Columbia: The Wild Within”, “Explore British Columbia by Region” and “Skiing in British Columbia.”

Expedia

Expedia posts amazing content from destinations all over the world, inspiring their nearly 500K subscribers to learn about new parts of the globe. Following a travel guide format, most of their videos highlights of different destinations and use different technologies, such as 360-degree video. In their “How Far” video, in partnership with Explore Australia, they use this technology to guide their viewers and tell a compelling narrative — no wonder they made our list of travel YouTube channels!

Air Bnb

What better way to engage your fans than by educating them? Air Bnb recently launched a series of videos sharing tips and tricks for the everyday host. From making your small space look larger to making your home guest-friendly, you can learn how to turn your space into a worldly retreat. The hotel disruptor also uses YouTube to update fans with new features such as Air Bnb Plus or the curated restaurant feature. While it looks like the channel previously used YouTube as a means of sharing commercials (which we don’t recommend!!), we expect Air Bnb to start creating more consumer-focused content that we can all enjoy.
